Bistek - Beef Steak Recipe

Filipino Beef steak, or commonly known in Tagalog as "bistek", is a thin slice of beef marinated in soy sauce and calamansi. It is the Filipino version of beef steak.

Cooking Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin. Sliced thin.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 pieces calamansi or 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

  • In a large pan, marinade beef in soy sauce, calamansi (or lemon), and ground black pepper. Cover and let it sit for at least 1 hour.
  • Heat the frying pan and add marinated beef. Fry until medium tender and set aside.
  • In the same frying pan. Stir fry onion rings until soft.
  • Add all the meat and the marinade back into the frying pan.
  • Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until meat is tender.
